Roles and Responsabilities

In addition to directly contributing to the company's sales, the applications scientist actively participates in the strategy and creation of new imaging solutions in the field of advanced materials. This position reports to the Sales and Marketing Department.

The application scientist works hand in hand with the team of physicists, team leaders and designers to suggest the best possible solution to Photon etc. customers.

A Typical Day

  • Develops and maintains true collaboration with clients in order to understand their materials science needs;

  • Evaluates projects and generates quotes;

  • Actively prospecting for new customer accounts;

  • Updates the CRM and its opportunities (tasks, next step, opportunity closure, report);

  • Acts proactively in business development;

  • Monitors competition and emerging innovations;

  • Assists and supports strategic planning;

  • Participates/organizes international fairs;

  • Create scientific marketing content (webinar, application note, etc.);

  • Carries out proofs of concepts for potential clients or with the aim of developing new applications.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has a university degree in science or engineering (physics, chemistry, mechanics, etc.);

  • Motivated by achieving sales objectives, creating new customer accounts and markets;

  • Sociable, attentive and enjoys discussing with local and international researchers;

  • Has leadership, initiative, must be resourceful to solve complex problems;

  • Knows how to plan and organize his work by clearly establishing priorities;

  • Oral and written bilingualism;

  • Has a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in technical sales;

Assets

  • Has an advanced degree or research experience in materials sciences;

  • Has a good knowledge of optical material characterization systems;

  • Has knowledge of sales tools and processes (e.g.: CRM, call for tenders);

  • Knowledge of microscopy and hyperspectral imaging.
